What to expect during a session:

Neurofeedback sessions are conducted in the comfort of our offices in Missoula. After an intake has been completed, patients arrive to their 50 minute sessions and do a quick check in. During this time we are seeing how you have been feeling most recently and if any changes have occured since the last session. Through this and the information gleaned from your intake, Juli focuses on the areas deemed problematic. Electrodes are then placed on various areas of the head, located over the parts of the brain we are targeting. The activity of those areas is then interpreted onto the video screen. Neurofeedback sessions are much like playing a computer game- except no hands, only mind.

The electrodes provide real-time feedback on the state of your brainwaves. While medications target our neurochemicals, neurofeedback works to target our electrical functioning while fine tuning the brain’s efficacy. This feedback, emitted through visuals on a screen, coaxes the brain toward stability in functioning. As this happens, symptoms and problematic behaviors start to decrease and patients often communicate a sense of peace and relaxation during the sessions.
